It's time.

Today, I set off on an adventure of a lifetime, an adventure that would challenge me emotionally, physically and mentally. While I sit at the airport jotting this down I am constantly thinking how lucky I am to be starting this new chapter of my life and how exciting the next few months are going to be.

Although saying goodbye to my family and friends was extremely difficult, and I may have been a complete mess on the flight to melbourne, I sit here now, listening to my fave travel song (C2C - Down the road - thanks Madds!), people watching and getting extremely excited to board my first international flight to Dubai!

One thing I was dreading about my long international flights was the fact that I would be seated next to a complete stranger who may smell, take over my personal space or snore. Luckily enough I was seated next to another young female Australian who is currently teaching in France and a lovely German woman.  These 2 ladies were quick to inform me about everything to be expected during the flight and offered me sneaky little tips about everything! My inflight entertainment consisted of hours and hours of Battleships, who knew this game was so fun!

7 Hours of flying done and I had arrived at my first stopover in Singapore, and I was craving Taco's badly. So my new Australian friend, Fleur and I were off on a mission to find Taco's however we were unsuccessful in finding any! I think I resorted to a bottle of water and a muesli bar left over from my previous flight. It was now time to board for the next leg of the journey, the 7 hour flight to Dubai. By this time I had adapted to the whole flying thing and was ready and raring to go with my next game of battleships.

'Fasten your seat belts and prepare for landing' another successful 7 hours of flying complete and I am now in Dubai, and what a place it is! It is 4am, and it is buzzing with people from all over the world. Fleur and I are so jet lagged, we find our selves aimlessly wondering this enormous airport, we needed coffee and fast.  Dubai is where we would go our separate ways, for the final legs of our journeys!

BRING ON COPENHAGEN.

It was finally time to board my final flight only another 7 hours of flying and I would be in Copenhagen. This time the people I sat next to were not so talkative, this didn't bother me I had a game of battleships waiting to be played (very addictive). However, found myself asleep 30 minutes into the flight. This flight seemed to go on forever and I could not wait to get off!

Finally arrived in Copenhagen and it is time to get the train to Sweden, buying a ticket was an adventure in itself. I get to which I hope is the correct terminal and am hit with the cold weather, oh my goodness it is so COLD! Open up the suitcase out comes another jumper,  Kathy (goose down of course :P) gloves, beanie and scarf.  Boarding the train was hilarious trying to carry my 2 suitcases on board and then find a seat. About half way through the train journey the train stops and a message is announced over the P.A, in Swedish of course, and everyone around me moaning and groaning. So here is me in silence, wondering what the hell is going on looking around and just smiling at other passengers because I have no bloody idea what was just said, so I just sat there and eventually the train started again  and I was in Malmo.

Next mission, to successfully get a cab to my hotel. I found the taxi rank fine, but the issue my cab driver spoke no english and I went to sit in the wrong side of the car! Disaster! After about 5 minutes of negotiation and a lot of misunderstanding we were finally on our way.

I am finally at my hotel and oh my goodness, it is AMAZING!

First things first, contact mother, and BATH!

2PM local time, and i'm ready to explore what will be my new town.

This means it is time to rug up, 2 pairs of tights, 2 tops, 1 jumper, 1 kathy, scarf, beanie, gloves, boots and i'm ready to go. My first mission the supermarket, and what a challenge it was! I was in there for a good hour trying to find the simplest of products but could not read a word of it! I ended up with yoghurt instead of milk, breakfast biscuits instead of dry crackers and a horrible flavoured dip. Never mind, hotel room service it was! I headed back to the hotel, thought i'd have a little rest and found myself passed out for the next 16 hours.

MORNING!

My first real day in Sweden, and it is time to skype my mother and order breakfast!
And a breakfast for kings it was, I ordered 2 poached eggs on toast.
I received: 2 poached eggs, cornflakes, muesli, juice, and a basket filled with chocolate crossaints, muffins, almond bread, banana bread, and toast!

2nd mission: Find the hotel gym and successfully use equipment.
3rd mission: Trek back to Copenhagen and find a coat for this insanely cold weather, brr.

Well, thats it for now, so until next time,

From Sweden with love,

Holly xxxxxx
