First of all, I will
apologise for my lack of postings lately! Everything has been full on starting
placement and all. With this said
placement is challenging but also so amazing! The health care system over here
is so different to back home and the language barrier oh my goodness, so
tricky! We wear incredibly stylish white scrubs every shift and it seems to be
the trend here that all of the nurses and doctors well anyone in the hospital
as a matter of fact wear crocs or sandals for footwear with heavy-duty
socks. Anyway placement is
placement and I could waffle on forever with my nursing stories but I will save
them for a coffee date.
Now I have come to the
revelation that life as an international student living in university housing
is hectic and there is always something happening. Without a doubt there is at least one party a week with some
crazy theme which means dress-ups yay!
For Carmen’s 21st
birthday the theme was anything hippie. This meant we got to don John Lennon
glasses, braid our hair and wear bright happy colours. Everyone dressed up
which always makes it fun and the music was perfectly themed.
Lindsay and I being
the creative individuals we are thought we would find costumes within both of
our wardrobes and make our accessories. Our first task was making the peace
sign for our necklaces; little did we know this would be a total disaster.
Instead of googling a picture to copy we just went with our intuition, how hard
could it be?
After multiple
attempts we thought we had it correct.
But uh oh, we went to
the hippie party with Mercedes Benz symbol necklaces.
'The bobbsy twins.'
After completing our
Harry Potter marathon I am pretty sure it was evident that Lindsay and I had a
slight obsession with the movie/characters/accents and found a way to incorporate
it into every day life.
You’re a wizard Harry!
Move over.
Anyways that is all for tonight and I best get my butt into gear with updating you all on all of the other adventures we have had these past couple of weeks. But for now I need sleep as I have placement in the morning.
Miss you all dearly.
From Sweden with love,
Hol (pro baller) Johnstone xxx
