Today began pretty well, skyped with mother ate a breakfast fit for a king, found the gym and after a few attempts was successfully able to use the equipment and have a boogie to the sound system down there (why not? I was on my own). After a nice hot shower, and applying layer upon layer of clothing I was ready to set off on my next adventure!
I had decided to save Copenhagen for another day and explore my little town Målmo.
My day of exploring began with marking specific points on my rather large hand held map of where I wanted to go! With this said, the map wasn't of much use as I found myself going in the wrong direction and taking far too many wrong turns. Thankfully I ended up where
I had wanted and soon found myself entering multiple stores and having to take off multiple layers to adjust to the indoor heating (massive pain in the bum).
DISASTER STRIKES
I had entered a store in search of an umbrella, this store was rather large and sold outdoor adventure equipment, I found the perfect umbrella and headed for the checkout to pay. After paying I had redressed myself in multiple layers and was headed for the exit. Upon exiting the store the security alarm decided to buzz and I had to stand back and await staff assistance.
My immediate thoughts 'Holy cow do they think I have stolen something? Do they speak English?'
Whilst turning fifty shades redder in the face a staff member asked me to one by one take off a piece of clothing and re walk through the security alarms at the door. This turned out to be somewhat of a lengthy process and I had no idea as to why I was buzzing.
The staff member then thinks that there may be a silent alarm in my jacket, the poor thing, her english wasn't that great and I think she was as humiliated as me trying to instruct me how to do things. I handed her my kathy and she is trying to find this 'silent alarm' and hey presto she was right there was a 'silent alarm' stitched into the lining of my coat, damn you Kathmandu!
Problem solved after spending 15 minutes trying to hack this 'silent alarm' off my coat with the worst pair of scissors ever made, I successfully walked out of the store without setting off the alarm.
After all of this hassle I set off again wondering the city centre, Målmo is a truly beautiful little town with cobblestone pavements and fairy lights lit everywhere you go!
MENTAL NOTE
It is vital that one remembers the way of traffic in Europe! I have had many encounters with vehicles as I have been on the god damn wrong side of the road. This I feel will take some getting used to!
After exploring the town for a while I decided it was time to retire back to my hotel, with a hot chocolate and punnet of strawberries I was on my way.
Until next time,
From Sweden with love
Hol xx

If that's the worst thing that happens to you, you will be okay. X
